Abstract Art is good for the brain

Abstract Art stimulates the brain as other art forms do. It makes you think, and it makes kids learn colors better because there are lots of colors in many of these paintings. It is good for the brain because, after a while, you start to see the picture in the painting, making you think about what it means.

Abstract Art is fun to make

Artists use things like crayons, paint, and markers to put on the paper. I don’t think they have a particular palette because they can use the colors in their artwork. They also don’t be in an art studio with many other artists. Some Abstract artists paint what they see in a window across the street, take paints out of the closet, and start painting.

Abstract Art shows things better than looking at them

Because it uses colors and patterns, sometimes Abstract Art shows you how something looks before it happens, just like in the future. One thing artist Wassily Kandinsky considered if his painting looked like music sounds when he did art. He learned from a friend how sounds were doing that in France, so he used that idea in his art.

Abstract Art relates to nature

Because it uses colors and shapes, sometimes you can see what things looked like when they were first made or still look like today, even when they have been destroyed or changed into something else.

Abstract Art uses space

Abstract Art uses space to show things that can’t live with your eyes. For example, one of Picasso’s paintings is just a red egg with lines. You can only see it if you look at it from far away and back up again.

Abstract Art has beauty and feeling

Abstract Art can make you feel happy or sad, like a sunset or the time when you are having fun at the beach. It is interesting because it combines different feelings into one picture that you have to look at. Its beauty is like how beautiful the sunset looks in your favorite movie when they show it on the screen.

Abstract Art is suitable for imagination

You can look at Abstract Art one way or look at it differently. You can look at it and see something that isn’t there.

Abstract Art has a meaning

Sometimes, when you pick your favorite color, you might think about something special or something happy that happened to you, like when you picked purple for the first time in kindergarten with your friend Hannah because she had purple pants on and liked the color too.

Abstract Art can change your mood

When you see something Abstract, it might make you feel excited or relaxed, like when you are waiting for the bus, and someone is singing outside. It could make you sad, like when a pet dies or someone moves away.

Abstract Art can help someone

When lots of people appreciate art, they want to help encourage more people to paint pictures, so they start making lots of money selling their paintings and teaching kids how to paint.

Abstract art is an art movement that represents objects and ideas in non-representational, non-naturalistic ways. Abstract art has been a trendy art style and movement since the 1900s. It first became popularized by European artists like Wassily Kandinsky and František Kupka. However, many artists have created abstract works of art since then, including Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollack, and Andy Warhol.

A response movement

The Abstract Art Movement was a reaction against Impressionism, a trendy style of painting at the time; Impressionism is a style that uses visible brushstrokes to show the effect of light on an object or scene. Many artists felt that painting in this way diminished the meaning and value of art. Instead, abstract artists focused more on what the artwork represented than how it was created; for example, instead of focusing on the brushstrokes used to create an image, abstract artists would focus on what the image represented. Artists like Jackson Pollack and Wassily Kandinsky would use splashes of paint and different colors to represent their thoughts and feelings about what they saw in the world around them.

Abstract art is still a popular style and movement today

Abstract art still has the same goal: to present the art without focusing on how it was created. Artists of Abstract Art often use colors and shapes to represent emotions, feelings, or objects they care about. Today, Abstract Art can be found everywhere; however, it is very closely associated with casino murals in the United States. The early 20th century saw a lot of growth in casino gambling throughout the United States. Along with this new industry came new venues for art. To differentiate themselves from other casinos and build their brand, casinos started commissioning artists to create murals on their walls to attract customers. Art collections are associate with wealth. You can see why casinos would marry well with modern art.

Purpose of Abstract Art

People use Abstract Art to show how they feel. The American artist Jackson Pollock made his paintings by splashing paint all over the canvas. He wrote a poem about how much he liked to do this in his book. Other artists used Abstract Art to show how they felt about things that were important to them. They also used it to reflect what was going on in the world around them.

For example, Picasso was famous for using abstract art when he was older. He wanted to connect with younger generations because he wanted them to accept his work without remembering it was him. He made young, vibrant paintings that showed how much fun it was for him and how young he looked.

Abstract Art is an art genre that focuses on color and shapes. It is a trendy art style all over the world, but it mainly originated in Europe in the early 20th century; now, it has spread worldwide. Abstract art has been said to be a visual form of communicating thought, but it is also a means to help us see what we may have missed or avoided in our search for perfection. Without abstract art, the world would not be able to take on new forms or aesthetically expand its horizons. Abstract art helps us realize that perfection does not exist in our society because it helps us breathe new life into old styles and forces progress forward even when people are too busy with their own lives to pay attention.

Abstract art, in many ways, is also a way of connecting to the world. The truth is that our world is not perfect, but abstract art allows us to think about our world in new ways. Often we may not have thought about these things before. It helps us see the hidden beauty in things that we once ignored. And it helps us connect to others who share similar views with ourselves. It makes the impossible seem possible and gives hope to those who have lost all hope. Abstract also allows people to reflect on their lives. They are able to express their feelings instead of having to express themselves with words or through any other conventional channel.

Spotlight on U.S. Abstract Painter Jackie Saccoccio

Jackie Saccoccio is a native of New York City, United States, born in 1947. She attended the Pratt Institute, where she studied painting and art history under the instruction of Josef Albers and Nathan Oliveira and exhibited her work with the Jack Tworkov Gallery. In 1969 she moved to France to study at Sorbonne University, where she received her M.F.A.M.F.A. from Ecole des Beaux-Arts and was awarded a scholarship that allowed her to travel extensively in Europe from 1972-73. She received her Ph.D. in Art History from Boston University in May of 2006.

Saccoccio’s early works were sculptural reliefs referencing ancient Greek and Roman cultures and European architecture, strongly emphasizing mathematical and geometric forms. By 1974 she was painting with acrylics. Creating large-scale works on canvas and paper that combined forensic illustration with Freudian eroticism. Her work became more abstract over the following decades. Saccoccio’s work became increasingly abstracted; she describes the painting process as the perfecting technique until the hand disappears into color and form. In 2013, Saccoccio moved to New Mexico, where she continues to paint in her studio near Taos.

Honors and Awards

In 2016 Jackie Saccoccio was honored with the Oil Painting Award from the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas, and the Annual Outstanding Teaching Award from the New World School of The Arts. In 2017 she received a residency at the South Florida Science Center. She receives commissions to paint murals and works on paper and created a seventy-year retrospective exhibition in 2017. Saccoccio continues to be an active teacher at workshops around the country, including a workshop she taught for over 40 years in New York City and one she taught for nine years in her home state of Georgia.

Saccoccio’s paintings are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The South Florida Science Center, the New York State Council on the Arts, and many other art institutions. Her work appears in many group and solo exhibitions throughout the United States. Saccoccio’s paintings also included in numerous private collections, including those of Arthur F. Glenn, Phyllis and Humbert S. Naylor, Alfredo C. Roque, Hilton Hotels International, the Westin Hotel Group, and many corporations and institutions.

Large Scale Works

Saccoccio also created nine large-scale works for the New York State Department of Transportation from 2007 – 2011 as part of her “Art on”the Move: The New York State Department of Transportation’s Art Program.” As a significant part of her career, she was commissioned to create an enormous sewn tapestry. It was designed for the entrance lobby of Davis Hall at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 1992. She has also created work for numerous skyscraper lobbies for clients such as MetLife, Prudential Financial Services, Lloyd’s of London, and many others. She was commissioned to create the first public mural to be installed in New York City’s City’s Square. Also she created a mural for the Walgreens drug store on 34th Street in Manhattan. Jackie has also been commissioned to create works for the new M.O.M.A. permanent collection at MoMA’s MoMA’s. Koch Plaza on Madison Avenue in Manhattan.

In 2016 Saccoccio was invited by Rebuilding Together of New England and Coastal Society International to paint a mural with all proceeds going to both charities; two of her murals were then donated by M.O.M.A. to their Stairway Hall at their Museum campus near Central Park in New York.

More than 15 of Saccoccio’s paintings are in the permanent collections of Columbia University. Also in the School of Visual Arts, New York University, and many other art schools throughout the United States.

In print

Jackie Saccoccio is included in Art Makers to Watch, published by Taschen. She is also included in Abstract Painting: A Biennial Exhibition, published by Taschen; In February 2015, Saccoccio was included in a New York Times article titled Art Beyond Abstract Expressionism. She was also the subject of a radio interview on the Sirius Satellite program Soho Arts; Saccoccio was selected for three years to participate in Gallery Artists, an online art database.

In addition to her accomplishments in painting, Saccoccio is also a published author. In March of 2017, she published a book titled: Abstract Painting for the beginner and Beyond. The book is meant to help non-artists learn about modern art abstract painting. It will give them tools to take home and use in their own homes. She says that she hopes to get people engaged with art, especially if they don’t have formal training. This means they can appreciate the magic of abstract painting more.
